I my previous post “Is a perfect skin attainable?” I focused on cleansing on the skin. I spoke about how I use African black soap to remove dirt, make up, sebum before bed and how I used it in the morning to thoroughly cleanse my skin of what it’s expelled whilst I’ve been sleeping. This week I’ll be talking about a supplement that I’ve been taking after I heard from quite a few different people that it can make a huge difference to your skin, hair and nails.

The supplement in question is flaxseed oil which I’ve been using for over a month now in fact I just bought my second tub today.

So what exactly is flaxseed oil?Flax Seed Oil is a blue flowering plant with oil rich seeds. This natural oil (also known as Linseed Oil) is highly recommended for the general well being and whole body nutrition and is considered to be nature’s richest source of omega-3 fatty acids that are required for the health of almost all body systems.

What made me want to try it?

A few people who know their vitamins and supplements said it’s fantastic to help clear up skin and strengthen nails so I thought I might as well give it go.

How often do you take it?

You take it twice a day, once with breakfast and once with your evening meal. The capsules are odourless unlike cod liver capsules etc and are very easy to take.

What are the proposed benefits?

Is it thought to lead to stronger nailsIt’s been shown to help with stressCan help maintain healthy jointsSupposed to help with the aging process (I know an 84 year old that takes it who looks AMAZING)Thought the thoroughly nourish the skin inside and outAcne, psoriasis, rosacea and eczema are all thought to be improved by regularly taking flaxseed oil

Does it work?

I can definitely say that I’ve seen an improvement in my skin; my face seems lot less congested and generally looks brighter in appearance. However, what has really amazed and impressed me about this supplement is the strength of my nails. I’ve ALWAYS had trouble with weak brittle nails and I now have talons stronger and longer than I’ve ever had before.

Will I carry on taking it?

Without a doubt, I honestly feel so much better for taking it. I feel it’s really complimented my new cleansing routine with black soap. Compared to the condition of my skin before I was taking it my skin now feels, and looks, a whole lot better.
