I’ve not done a lot of posts on dry skin types mainly because I don’t have dry skin. I have, however, managed to rope a few people who I know to have dry skin into testing my chamomile and lavender soothing face mask. I chose ingredients known for their moisturising and soothing properties and so far I haven’t heard any complaints!
YOU WILL NEED:
1tbsp of Chamomile Infusion (tea)
1 tbsp of Kaolin Clay
½ teaspoon Manuka Honey
½ teaspoon of Sweet Almond Oil
4 drops of Lavender Essential Oil
Make your chamomile tea but don’t use a lot of water to make it so it’s really concentrated.
Mix your tea, kaolin clay, almond oil and manuka honey together until you have a thick, smooth paste. If it doesn’t seem thick enough you can add a little bit more kaolin clay.
Finally, add a few drops of lavender oil and stir everything together again.
NB: When buying essential oils make sure you buy pure essential oils and not fragrance oil — there is a very big difference!
HOW TO APPLY:
Cleanse your face and neck thoroughly first before you apply.
With a spatula or old make up brush thinly apply your mask all over your face and neck.
Relax and let the mask do its work for a good 10–15 minutes. Pop a couple of chamomile tea bags on your eyes.
After 15 minutes warm a muslin cloth or flannel in some water and then place it over the top of your mask and let it sit for 10 seconds then wipe away.
Remove the mask by continuing the hot flannel process.
Once removed pat your face dry and follow with your favourite toner and moisturiser.
If you happen to have any mask left over you can add a couple of drops of vegetable glycerine and it should keep for about a week or two.
